The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has promised to checkmate the activities of Boko Haram and the Islamic State Of West Africa Province, ISWAP.
This he said in a tweet on the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
He wrote, “A working Nigeria with equity, justice and fairness will also definitely and effectively checkmate such extreme groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.”
Meanwhile, there have been contentions about Obi’s silence on the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra and it’s militant arm, the Eastern Security Network, which are from his Southeast region.
The former governor of Anambra State recently revealed that if elected president in 2023, his government would negotiate with agitating groups. This he said amidst calls for him to condemn the proscribed IPOB.
