Obaseki Speaks On Defection Plans

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has said he has no plans to defect from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Recall that Pbaseki had in 2020 defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, the Governor quelled rumours of defection, stating that the PDP in Edo is united without division.

“There is no division in Edo PDP. As the state leader of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, I have no plans whatsoever to defect. Anyone not ready to accept my leadership can leave.

“I commend our party members and leaders for attending in good numbers our expanded caucus meeting, held over the weekend.

“With an intimidating figure of over 539,000 members already registered in our ongoing e-registration exercise, we have broken records as our state remains the bastion of the PDP in Nigeria: We have changed the face of politics in the country.

“Our focus now is on how to engage our members. Politics is not about fighting but dialogue and discussion. I urge us to collaborate and unite to move the party and state forward.”
