NURTW Chief Kidnapped, Ransom Demanded

The secretary of the Ondo state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Kayode Agbeyangi, was on Saturday kidnapped by gunmen.

The incident is reported to have occurred in the early hours of Saturday when Agbeyangi was headed to Lagos. His vehicle has been found unoccupied at the Akure-Ilesa Expressway.

The kidnappers have contacted the victim’s family to demand a ransom for his release but this not been met yet, Punch reports.

The incident has been confirmed by both the chairman of the union in the state, Jacob Adebo, and the state police public relations officer, Femi Joseph.

Adebo said, “He was kidnapped when he was travelling to Lagos and the kidnappers have called the family, demanding N5million ransom.”
