NUJ To Begin Clampdown On Quack Journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) says it will soon embark on a nationwide audit of journalists. This will enable it get rid of the quacks in the profession.
NUJ President, Waheed Odusile disclosed this in Lagos on Monday. He ordered that impostors interested in joining the profession should enrol in a school of journalism.
Odusile posits that quackery is a major concern to NUJ and one of the ways to fight it is to have a proper register of journalists in Nigeria.
The body will build a data bank of journalists and give them a proper identity card. This will help to fish out quacks that abound in the field.
He disclosed that the body will upgrade its International Institute of Journalism in Abuja to complement the one in Lagos. It will serve as a post-graduate school for journalists.
