NSCDC Arrests Five For Phone Theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has apprehended five individuals suspected of involvement in phone theft.

Additionally, two buyers of stolen phones are currently being pursued by the command. According to Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the command, the arrests took place on Tuesday in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area.

The suspects were identified as Faisal Usman, Mansur Isa, Abdullahi Bashir, Ahmed Ibrahim, and Zulkifil Bello. They were known to operate in Sabon Gari, where they would snatch mobile devices from unsuspecting individuals.

The NSCDC’s Intelligence and Investigation Department is actively seeking their accomplices, Sunday and Abdullahi, who were responsible for selling the stolen phones and SIM cards.

The command remains committed to eradicating criminal activities and expressed concern over the recent surge in phone snatching incidents in the Kano metropolitan area.

In a separate incident, angry residents set fire to a tricycle used by two suspected phone thieves who had allegedly snatched a phone from a passenger. The suspects were severely beaten by the mob.
