NOA Denies Warning Against Use Of Phone When Raining

The National Orientation Agency has denied issuing a statement warning Nigerians against using mobile phone when it is raining.

The statement attributed to the Agency also alerted of violent rainstorms with intense lightning, adding that people should avoid taking shelter under metal structures.

NOA, in a statement on Sunday, dissociated itself from the statement, saying it has never issued such advice.

According to the Agency, “This information is purported to have originated from the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

“We hereby inform the general public to disregard what has become recurrent viral fake news as the Agency has never issued such advice. NOA like other public organisations is known to issue press statement via its verifiable official channels of communication.

“We, therefore, implore Nigerians to seek correct information through concerned authorities like Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) regarding protection of lives and property during rainy season.

“In addition, please visit NOA online platforms for verified and updated information on government policies, programmes and activities.”
