No Entitlements For Jibrin -Ethics Committee

Former Chairman of Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin would not be paid any entitlements while under suspension. This was disclosed by the Ethics and Privileges Committee in the House of Representatives.
Committee Chairman, Nicholas Ossai said this to newsmen in Abuja. He said it will amount to waste of resources.
“Allowances are paid to a member based on the work you have put in but currently, Jibrin is not working.”
“He’s not a member of the House, he has been suspended. Once you are under suspension, your allowances are suspended.”
Committee Denies Jibrin’s Claim
The Chairman also denied claims by rep from Kano that he and other members of the House diverted committee allocations to their personal use.
“I don’t think I will join issues with somebody who has been suspended. Probably, when he resumes and he raises that issue, I will be able to address that.
“He is a suspended member. Right now, he’s not a member that I would not begin to respond to anything he says.
Ossai said the House acted within the ambit of the law to suspend Jibrin. He also hailed the reactions of Nigerians to the matter, saying it has been positive so far.
The House suspended Jibrin based on recommendations of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for alleged misconduct.
He accused the House Speaker Yakubu Dogara and three other principal officers of padding the 2016 budget with about N4billion.
