The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has said the fire that gutted the office if the West Africa Examinations Council, WAEC, on Wednesday didn’t claim any casualty.
It said upon the arrival of the Cobra Squad of the agency at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a section of the WAEC HQ multi-storey building was found to be on fire.
LASEMA said, “Further investigations revealed that the fire started at the 3rd floor of the 12 storey building due to power surge.
“A total of 7 Female Staff of the Corporation who were trapped on the 5th and 7th floors were safely evacuated due to the swift and prompt response of the Rescue team.
*The fire was put off and dampening down concluded by the combined effort of the responders. Thereafter, the Response Team conducted a post disaster assessment and Staff headcount to ascertain no casualties were trapped in the building.”
“The combined efforts of the Agency’s Team alongside the Agency’s Paramedics, LASG Fire and Rescue Service, FED FIRE, UNILAG FIRE, LASAMBUS and LASTMA were responders at the scene.”
