Nine Persons Killed In Vehicle Explosion In Maiduguri

Police in Borno State have confirmed the death of nine persons following a vehicle explosion in Maiduguri, the State capital.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman Victor Isuku, the victims were all in the vehicle when it exploded.

Near military checkpoint

Isuku said the incident occurred at about 10.30 am near a military checkpoint along Gubio road in the metropolis.

“There was an explosion today along Gubio road, just before the military checkpoint. The incident occurred at about 10.30 am.

“According to preliminary report, a pick-up van with nine persons emerged from a bush path to join the road to Gubio town.

”When it exploded, killing all the persons,” Isuku said.

He further stated that details of the incident would be made available when investigation is concluded.
