Niger Gov Inaugurates Maiden Basic Science Primary School In Suleja

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has commissioned a Basic Science Model Primary School in Suleja.

The project which is the first of its kind in the state, is a pilot scheme initiated by the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The Governor who expressed delight with the project explained that “its a policy of catching them young as far as science is concerned”.

“It’s a special school at a primary level so that they cultivate interest in science. Once they get the foundation, we believe it will be easier for them when they get to secondary school”, he further explained.

The Governor-elect, Umar Mohammed Bago also commended the project, assuring that his administration will consolidate on it as it is in line with his vision for the state.

“We are going to consolidate on this. It’s in tandem with our policy and vision for Niger State. Will replicate it statewide”, he assured.

The Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Hannatu Salihu described the initiative as laudable, adding that it will serve as a “feeder to science secondary schools in the state”.

She disclosed that a special entrance examination will be set for children from ward level across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The Chairman, SUBEB Saidu Ibrahim explained the scheme as a pilot scheme, the school is also to be established in three other towns of Lapai, Beri, and New Bussa.

He said the one in Suleja has 10 classrooms, a basic science laboratory, E-Library, Office, restrooms, a playground, etc.

The Chairman said for effective teaching and learning to take place, 30 pupils will be accommodated in each of the classrooms.

The Governor in the company of the Governor-elect and some members of the state executive council inspected the facility.
