NEMA Kano Launches Food Aid Distribution in Collaboration with KSrelief

In a joint effort to alleviate food insecurity among vulnerable populations, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Kano State has commenced the distribution of food baskets provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief). The initiative extends its reach to communities in Jigawa, Katsina, and Borno States.

NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, underscored the significance of the assistance, noting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of 42,000 metric tonnes of food items for distribution across the nation. The launch ceremony, represented by Director Special Duties Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim, highlighted the collaborative efforts between national and international bodies in addressing pressing humanitarian needs.

Gratitude was expressed by Kano State’s Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, towards Saudi Arabia and the Federal Government for their support in ensuring food security for vulnerable populations. Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Albaben of KSrelief conveyed King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud’s goodwill towards Nigeria and the organization’s commitment to humanitarian aid efforts.

The initial phase of distribution in Kano State targeted 500 beneficiaries, forming a part of a broader effort to reach 2,056 identified recipients. The collaboration between NEMA and KSrelief reflects a concerted approach to tackle food insecurity and provide essential relief to those most in need across multiple states in Nigeria.
