Naira Redesign Policy Will Sink Buhari – Ortom

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has said the naira redesign policy will sink the image of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Ortom urged the Federal Government to review the policy which saw the redesign of the N100, N200, N500 and N1,000 denominations of the naira.
The policy also gave a February 10 deadline for the swapping of old naira notes for the new ones.
However, since the deadline passed,Amy have complained about the unavailability of the new notes. Online transactions have also been malfunctioning, leading to chaos in the country.
Just today, protests which have seen the burning of banks have been stages in Ilorin, Ibadan, Warri and Benin, with more cities predicted to join in.
Reacting, Ortom said,
“This is the worst policy done by the Federal Government. Nigerians are suffering and some are dying. The people are feeling the pains; their children can’t go to school; they have nothing to eat. Even those who have money in the banks are not able to access the money.
“Yet, some people are not telling Mr President the truth. Someone close to the President should tell him that this policy will sink his image forever, if he allows it to remain the way it is. The Federal Government should review the policy before the situation gets out of hand.”
