NAFDAC Busts Fake Eva Water Company in Port Harcourt

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a counterfeit bottled water operation in Port Harcourt, targeting the popular brand Eva water.

According to the agency, the operators make use of used Eva plastic bottles wich they refilled with contaminated water.

In a statement made available to Concise News, NAFDAC said one Chibunna James was arrested during a raid on the facility.

The agency said, “Acting on a tipoff, officials raided a dilapidated shop on Pipe Line Road, Eneka, disguised as a pool house, where suspects were found producing the fake water.

“The operation revealed a disturbing process – used Eva plastic bottles were refilled with contaminated water drawn from a paint bucket, filtered through a dirty rubber funnel covered with cloth. Counterfeit Eva labels were then applied to the bottles, corked with fake Eva corks.

“One suspect, Chibunna James, was apprehended while loading the adulterated water for distribution, while the mastermind remains at large.

“The seized products were confiscated and evacuated to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.”
