Minister Praises Technological Advancements in Broadcasting at AFRICAST 2023

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has hailed the transformative impact of technology on the broadcasting landscape in the 21st century.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria, he shared his insights after a thorough inspection of cutting-edge digital equipment showcased by manufacturers at the 2023 AFRICAST event held in Lagos.

The Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, exuberantly traversed the exhibition, meticulously scrutinizing the state-of-the-art equipment on display by various manufacturers.

He expressed his admiration for the high levels of technological innovation permeating the broadcasting industry, signaling the commitment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to spearhead technological advancements, especially within public media houses.

In an earnest plea, Alhaji Mohammed Idris urged content producers to rally behind the administration’s mission to combat the scourge of fake news, misinformation, and disinformation within the industry.

Charles Ebuebu, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, extended a warm welcome to all event participants and underscored the commission’s relentless efforts to expedite Nigeria’s transition from analog to digital broadcasting. This technological leap is expected to take place in the not-so-distant future.

The AFRICAST 2023, a global gathering of content producers and manufacturers from over thirty countries, is set to conclude on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the evolving landscape of broadcasting and technology integration.
