Nigerian Military Warns Against Disruption Of Peace Process In Niger Delta

The Nigerian military has applauded the ongoing negotiation with militants to restore peace and order in the Niger Delta.
The Defence Headquarters stressed that the military would abide with the ongoing negotiation effort of the Federal Government with militants.
Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, however warned that while trying to achieve peace through negotiation, any armed attack against its location will be responded to. This will be in line with the professional and military’s constitutional mandate of defending innocent citizens and critical national infrastructure. He warned that the military would deal with any individual or group that takes the good gesture for granted.
“The Armed Forces therefore warn various belligerent groups in either the Niger Delta or any other part of the nation to desist from any act capable of jeopardising peace and security of our country or they will regret the consequences of their evil action.’’
Abubakar reiterated that the Armed Forces would continue to partner with peace-minded groups to bring lasting peace to the region.
