A robotics coach and former Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Prof. Soaga Sofola, has expressed confidence in the ability of the seven Nigerian students competing at the Global Robotics Olympics.

He stated this during a special training for the students who are billed to represent Nigeria in Washington DC in July.

The secondary school students will represent Nigeria in the ”For Inspiration Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Global Robotics Olympics.”

The professor of physiology said his confidence was based on the performance of the students in previous competitions and the quality of training they were receiving.

“The Nigerian students will do well because for three years, the foundation has won Leego international competition, though not as advanced as robotics,’’ he said.

He however appealed to governments and public-spirited individuals to support the students.
