Man Stands Trial For Allegedly Stealing Spoons

A 21-year-old man, Ayoade Adekitan, who allegedly stole two bags containing spoons, appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday

But the accused, facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Richard Odigie, told the court that Adekitan committed the crime on 7 December. He said it happened at about 6:00am at Hallow Way St., Lagos Island.

Odigie further said the accused and two others at large entered a store belonging to Samson Obike where the spoons were kept and stole the property.

The spoons were said to be valued at N600,000

What the law says

The prosecutor then said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo, granted the accused N50, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She then adjourned the case to January 10, 2017 for trial.
