LG Elections In Kaduna Postponed – SIECOM

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has said the postponement of the local government elections earlier scheduled for December 30, is to allow for amendment of some portions of the electoral law to pave way for electronic-voting.

The Chairman of KAD-SIECOM, Dr Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu, made this known at a meeting with political parties and civil societies at the commission’s head office in Kaduna.

Dikko-Audu said: ”We wanted to conduct the local government elections this year, and thought the amendment would have been done and assented to by the governor, but as it stands now, it is impossible for local government elections to hold in Kaduna State this year, but hopefully by next year.”
