In a decisive operation orchestrated by the Lagos State Taskforce, chaired by CSP Shola Jejeloye, 51 notorious members of a highway gang notorious for harassing truck drivers along the Apapa/Oshodi and Lagos/Badagry Expressway were apprehended.
The gang, known for their brazen tactics, coerced truck drivers into parting with money under the false pretense of representing the defunct Lagos State Parks and Garages Agency.
Under the leadership of CSP Shola Jejeloye, the Taskforce conducted a thorough investigation into the activities of the gang, who had been causing havoc and instilling fear among truck drivers in the region.
The operation, which was meticulously planned, resulted in the successful arrest of the 51 individuals involved in the extortion racket. The crackdown sends a clear message that such criminal activities will not be tolerated in Lagos State.
Truck drivers along the Apapa/Oshodi and Lagos/Badagry Expressway have long been victims of harassment and extortion by these gangs, disrupting the flow of goods and commerce in the region.
The Taskforce’s swift action reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and businesses in Lagos State. CSP Shola Jejeloye emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the community to combat such criminal elements effectively.
The apprehension of the highway gang members marks a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to rid Lagos State of criminal syndicates that prey on innocent citizens and disrupt economic activities.
