Benue: What Ortom Said About Appointing Successor
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that he has no plans to anoint anybody as his successor.
Ortom made this known while addressing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders on Friday in Makurdi, the state capital.
The governor assured them that he would allow the party to field the most acceptable candidate for the governorship election in 2023.
Ortom said: “If someone tells you that I have anointed him as my successor, tell him that he is lying. I will work with any candidate that the party fields in 2023.
“Nobody should deceive you that he is my anointed candidate for the 2023 general elections.” Read more here.
Benue Gov’ship Election: Tribunal Affirms Ortom’s Re-Election
The Benue State Governorship Tribunal has upheld the re-election of Samuel Ortom as the governor of the Food Basket of the nation.
The tribunal gave the verdict on Monday after a panel dismissed the petition of the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emmanuel Jime, for lacking in merit.
Jime had dragged Governor Ortom and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the tribunal on the grounds that the elections were marred by substantial irregularities.
Benue Guber Dispute: What Ortom Said About Tribunal Judgement
Governor Samuel Ortom has hailed the judgment of the Benue State Governorship Election Tribunal, describing it as a victory for the people of the state who elected him for a second term.
According to the Governor, the verdict of the tribunal has confirmed the unanimous decision of Benue voters and has proven that his re-election was credible.
He returns all the glory and praise to God Almighty for honouring him with the mandate to lead the state for another term.
