Kidnapped Former Minister, Husband Released

Kidnapped former Minister of Environment, Mrs Laurentia Malam, and her husband, Pius, have been released. The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mr. Aliyu Usman confirmed that the couple regained their freedom on Wednesday.

The couple ran into a roadblock mounted by the kidnappers around Jere on Kaduna-Abuja highway on Monday and demanded a ransom of N10m.

Usman said they were rescued through the efforts of security operatives and have since reunited with their family unhurt. He added that no arrests have been made in connection to the incident but everything is being done to bring the suspects to book. He urged members of the public to support the police in its quest to get rid of criminals in the country.

Increasing high profile abduction

There has been a recent increase in abduction of high profile individuals in the country. Former Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan. Prof. Olufemi Bamiro and Wife of CBN Governor, Margaret Emefiele are recent victims.
