Kadiri Ikhana has rejoined four-time NPFL champions Kano Pillars, with the mandate to reclaim the league title next season.

To end trophy drought

Pillars, Nigerian champions from 2012 to 2014, endured a frustrating campaign in the recently concluded season. They finished in 7th place, failing to earn a place on the continent for the second straight season.

But with the appointment of the 2003 CAF Champions League winner with Enyimba, the Kano side are clearly aiming for the zenith of the league

To win the NPFL title

According to the club’s Media Officer Idris Malikawa, Ikhana was rehired to win the league title, which has eluded the side for two consecutive seasons.

“Kadiri Ikhana is the new coach of Kano Pillars. He has signed a one-year contract and he is expected to use his wealth of experience to regain the league title for us.

”He will be given total support to achieve this target. He will be presented to the media on Tuesday in Kano.”

The former Shooting Stars handler was shortlisted alongside Samson Unuanel, Gbenga Ogunbote, and Zakary Baraje for the job.

Ikhana, a 1978  FA Challenge Cup winner  with Bendel Insurance,  parted ways with Ibadan side Shooting Stars  in the  heart of last  season.
