A former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said Liverpool were limited in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United because they do not play well against teams with “low blocks.”

The Reds managed to go home with a draw in a Premier League clash with United on Sunday to truncate their perfect start on the domestic front.

United played a lot better in the first half of the clash but Jurgen Klopp’s men came back to snatch a point just five minutes to normal time.

Liverpool have not beaten United at the Old Trafford since 2014 and Klopp said his team found it hard due to the defensive setting of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

And Mourinho agrees with that assertion, describing United’s defensive outlook as a “low block.”

“Their quality as a team to play against a low block, which is a problem that sometimes they have,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“They have these fantastic records of all these victories, but they have some limitations against teams with low blocks.

“Jurgen clearly has a little bit of frustration, they are a fantastic team, but at Old Trafford, a special place for Liverpool to win, he never did it.”
