Ondo State governor-elect Rotimi Akeredolu has said that he’s not interested in probing anybody when he assumes office in 2017.

The governor-elect made this revelation at a joint briefing of newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday. With him were the Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, his running mate in the Ondo governorship poll Agboola Ajayi, as well as Minister of Niger Delta Prof. Claudius Daramola.

“My own is not to institute probe of the last regime and that is what President Buhari has done,” said Akeredolu.

“But if it I get to find out of any wrongdoing, then we have enough laws of the land that will take care of the perpetrators.

“This is different from saying that you are instituting probes. Probes don’t interest me. We will go about our work on assumption of office.

Law will prevail

The governor-elect, however, said his decision not to set up probes should not be misconstrued as tolerance of corruption.

“As we go ahead if there is any semblance of `Dasukigate’ at the state level, then the law will take its course,” said Akeredolu.

“We did not arrive at Dasukigate from probing. We discovered it. So if anything like that is discovered in Ondo State the law will take its course.

“But we will not go and probe; we will follow the example laid down by the President,’’ he added.
