Ibrahim Magu Remains Rejected As EFCC Chairman – Senate

By Lordson Okpetu
The Nigerian Senate has cleared all doubts on its position on troubled acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, saying he remains rejected.
Earlier reports credited to Senate leader Ali Ndume has it that the senate has not rejected Magu’s appointment as EFCC chairman. Ndume said that the senate cannot reject acting EFCC boss until it gets further clarifications from DSS on the security report the house has on him.
He said, “Let me say categorically that the senate did not reject the acting EFCC boss. What happened was that when we slated his confirmation for that Thursday, we could not go ahead because we have a letter from the DSS that we could not ignore and which could not allow us to continue with the confirmation.”
But tweeting late Tuesday, the Nigerian senate, countered Ali Ndume’s assertion, clearing any doubt on the house position on Magu’s appointment with its tweet. The tweet reads:
Different media platforms are reporting we did not reject @officialEFCC Magu, Senate’s official position remains he was rejected- Sen Sabi
