House Committee On Defence Hails Quality Of Training At NDA

The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Honourable Babajimi Benson, has expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Defence Academy to produce well rounded military Officers that would do the nation proud in its battle against contemporary security challenges in some parts of the country.

Honourable Babajimi Benson expressed this confidence at the Loyalty Conference Hall of the Academy Headquarters when the House Committee on Defence paid an oversight visit to the Academy.

Honourable Babajimi, who noted that the track record and pedigree of the Commandant NDA, Major General IM Yusuf, puts him in the right place to lead the Academy in its contribution towards securing the nation from enemies within and without, acknowledged the myriad of challenges the Academy is facing and expressed the willingness of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence in seeing that the challenges are surmounted.

Earlier, the members of the Committee were briefed by the Director of Logistics, Nigerian Defence Academy, Air Commodore AO Shoghanmu, on NDA’s Capital Budget for the 2020/2021 and the 2021/2022 training year.

The brief, which covered completed and ongoing projects, also touched on proposed projects that would enhance a new NDA training regimen that is expected to produce military Officers that are better capable of handling comptemporary challenges in the field.

The visit later broke into an interactive session where members of the Committee asked questions on grey areas and the Commandant, Maj Gen IM Yusuf, assisted by his Principal Staff Officers, provided answers.

Addressing the members of the House Committee on Defence, the Commandant NDA, Major General IM Yusuf, on his part, expressed happiness with the members of the Committee for their support and understanding to the Academy over the years.

The members of the Committee were later taken on a guided tour of some facilities within the Academy.

The highlight of the visit include presentation of souvenir to the Committee Chairman, the signing of the visitors book and a photo session in front of the Academy Headquarters.
