South-west Governors To Receive Adebayo’s Body By 2pm

Arrangements have been concluded to receive the body of the former governor of the defunct Western Region, General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, by the six governors of the Southwest region.

He would be received by the six governors of the Southwest region on Thursday at 2pm.

Ibadan, the Oyo state capital since Monday has worn a new look with different posters, bill boards and others bearing the pictures and images of the former military governor at strategic locations such as Ojoo-UI-Mokola road, Bodija- Secretariat road and Dugbe-Mokola road, among others.

In a telephone chat with Daily Post, a member of Communications and Strategy team to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State said dignitaries will receive the corpse at 2pm and follow it to the House of Chiefs, Parliamentary building, Ibadan where the lying-in-state would be held.

Dignitaries expected at the event are: the host Governor Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti) and Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos).

Others expected to grace the occasion include members of Yoruba Council of Elders, alumni‎ of the University of Ibadan and other stakeholders who are expected to pay tribute to the late leader and elder statesman.

General Adebayo died on 8th March 2017 at the age of 89, a day before his 90th birthday.
