Fubara Alerts Rivers Citizens on Impending Flooding

Accessing his administration’s accomplishments within the first 100 days in office, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has emphasized the commitment to improving the well-being of the state’s residents in the face of economic challenges stemming from the sudden withdrawal of fuel subsidies, high unemployment rates, and rising inflation.

Fubara noted the significant impact of the free bus transport scheme, initiated in July, aimed at alleviating the financial strain on ordinary citizens grappling with the escalating cost of living. He reassured the public of his administration’s intent to sustain these and other mitigating measures, including the distribution of food to vulnerable populations, for an extended period.

Addressing concerns regarding impending flooding, Fubara disclosed the establishment of an intergovernmental flood management committee. This committee is entrusted with the proactive response to potential flooding issues that may affect residents living in lowlands and flood-prone areas of the state, as predicted by the National Emergency Management Agency.
