Barcelona’s players have given their approval for the club to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish league leaders are lining up an £88million bid for the France striker and are increasingly confident of signing a player who has scored 16 times for Atletico this season.

The front page of Tuesday’s Sport newspaper has Griezmann mocked up in a Barcelona shirt and they report that their existing stars are happy for him to join.

With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho already in the squad, they say Griezmann, 26, would be their ‘Fifth Fantastic’.

Sport point out that Barcelona have left the No 7 shirt vacant for Griezmann – the same number he wears for Atletico.

Barcelona tried to compensate for the sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for a world record £198million last summer by buying Dembele and Coutinho.

Dembele, bought from Borussia Dortmund for £105m last summer, has struggled with injuries throughout the season and has yet to show his best at the Nou Camp.

They followed that up by signing Brazilian star Coutinho from Liverpool for £105m in January. He has so far scored twice for his new club.

The Griezmann story also features on the front cover of Tuesday’s Mundo Deportivo, with the headline ‘Griezmann Factor’.

They say his ‘characteristics put him top of the Barcelona agenda’ and that he could prove crucial when Barcelona play Atletico on Sunday night in La Liga.

Barcelona are seven points ahead of Atletico at the top of the table and have yet to lose a league game this season.
