Finidi Acknowledges Mistakes as Super Eagles Lose to Mali

Interim head coach of the Nigerian national football team, Finidi George, has conceded that the Super Eagles suffered a setback due to “a few mistakes” made during their encounter against Mali.

Nigeria faced a 2-0 defeat against Eric Chelle’s side in an international friendly held on Tuesday night. Goals from El Bilal Toure and Kamorou Dounmbia secured the victory for the Malian team.

Speaking after the match, Finidi George reflected on the performance of his team, acknowledging that lapses in execution led to the disappointing result. Despite the setback, George remained optimistic about the team’s potential for improvement in future fixtures.

He told reporters: “I think it was just a few mistakes that cost us the match.

“It was not a bad game. Good intensity, we created a couple of chances, but didn’t score.

“And in a game like this, if you don’t score and you make mistakes, you will be punished.

“I’m happy with the way the boys played and it is quite positive.”
