Federal Government Re-arraigns IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu
The Federal Government has re-arraigned IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday.
The case is on an amended 11-count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony and publication of defamatory matter. The case file has been transferred to Justice Nyako after Justice John Tsoho from the same court withdrew.
Justice Tsoho had withdrawn from Kanu’s trial in September, over allegation of bias leveled against him by Kanu’s legal team.
Today’s Hearing
At today’s resumed hearing, Kanu was re-arraigned alongside Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. However, he pleaded not guilty to the amended charges.
To this end, Justice Nyako fixed November 17 to hear the bail applications filed by lawyers to the accused persons.
Delay Tactics
Earlier, defense counsels Chucks Muoma , SAN, Inalegwu Adoga, E.I Esene and Maxwel Okpara, berated the prosecution. They lamented that the prosecution was bent on frustrating the case through unnecessary delay tactics.
“The case is coming before me for the first time, so let us start on a clean slate, forget what happened previously,” she said.
