FG, EFCC Want Fani-Kayode Dead – PDP Alleges
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of trying to kill Femi Fani-Kayode.
The former Minister of Aviation has been in EFCC’s custody since last Friday over an issue that has yet to be disclosed.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary Dayo Adeyeye noted in a statement that Fani-Kayode has health challenges, hence, his continued detention without access to his doctors could be deadly.
“As at the time of writing this statement, officials of the EFCC have continued to deny Chief Fani-Kayode access to his medication.
”The only conclusion that can be reached is that the APC-led Federal Government and EFCC want Chief Fani-Kayode to die in detention.
“A few days before his arrest his wife, Precious Chikwendu and their eight-month old son, Aragorn, were arrested and would have been detained but for the timely intervention of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State,” Adeyeye said.
The main opposition party accused the federal government of violation of human rights.
“In the light of the prevailing circumstances where EFCC are detaining an obviously weak and ill man, this is an inescapable conclusion,” the party said.
Also, the PDP stated that the public acknowledgement of responsibility regarding the economic misfortunes caused Nigerians by the APC-led Federal Government has once again vindicated its earlier stance that this administration had no solutions to the country’s challenges.
The party was making reference to the pronouncement of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State after the meeting of APC governors with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.
