FAAN Sacks And Demotes Directors, General Managers

FAAN has sacked and demoted about 22 directors and general managers in what seems like a massive shake up.
Minister of State for Aviation, Capt. Hadi Sirika, had lamented that FAAN and NCAA were over bloated. This necessitated the Ministry of Transport to order restructuring in the agency. The restructure follows recommendations of a Presidential Committee chaired by the Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita.
In its report, it was discovered that FAAN had no fewer than 40 general managers and 11 directorates. They were created from existing directorates thereby raising overhead costs.
Similarly, the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), had complained about the inappropriate placements.
Some senior management personnel were allegedly appointed into sensitive positions through political connections. They claim these members of staff lack requisite experience or qualifications.
Also, some personnel, employed between 2012 and 2013 had just completed their NYSC between 2008 and 2010 and were given management positions.
FAAN Shake Up: Anxiety Rocks Staff
This development has caused pandemonium and anxiety among members of staff.
The affected members were found not to be placed in their appointments. They were demoted from Grade Levels 17 and 16 to levels 10, 12 and 14 respectively.
