US artiste Elton John has cancelled his Las Vegas shows in April and May, following a bacteria infection which left him in intensive care.
Reports say the 70-year-old music legend contracted the ‘potentially deadly’ infection in South America.
From a statement credited to his reps, Rogers and Cowan, John contracted a bacteria infection and was ‘violently ill’ on his flight from Chile after his South American tour.
The former chairman of Watford Football Club was reportedly admitted for 12 days, which was said to have included two nights in intensive care.
According to CNN, he was discharged from the hospital on Saturday and is now “comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice.”
Post recovery expectations
A close source revealed that he is expected to recover fully and resume performing in Twickenham, England, on 3 June.
His representatives’ statements reads:
During a recent, successful tour of South America, Elton contracted a harmful and unusual bacterial infection.
During his return flight home from Santiago, Chile he became violently ill. Upon returning to the UK, Elton’s Doctors admitted him to the hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection.
Infections of this nature are rare and potentially deadly. Thankfully, Elton’s medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery.’
The artiste added: ”I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them.
”I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”
