Ekiti Pensioners Get Gratuity Cheques

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has handed over N500 million gratuity cheques to some 2013/2014 state pensioners.

Concise News learnt that those in Local Governments will receive theirs next week.

During the presentation held at Lady Jibowu Hall, Ado-Ekiti, the Governor also instructed that N200 million should be allocated to both State and LG pensioners on a monthly basis, without any formal ceremony until the committee set up to address gratuity issues comes up with a final solution to settle all outstanding gratuities.

The occasion is in fulfilment of the promises made last year by Oyebanji to the pensioners to constantly defray backlogs of gratuities when funds are available.

So far, Ekiti State Government has paid pensions totaling over 600 million Naira on a monthly basis to about 9,700 pensioners, and over N1,700,000,000.00 as outstanding gratuities.
