It was United’s time to smile in the Manchester derby as they overcame the Blues in a keenly contested game at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata’s goal proved decisive for the Red Devils, but it had something to do with controversy, as Ander Herrera looked to have fouled Fernando in the moments before the Spaniard beat Willy Caballero for the opener.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now gone six games without a win.

West Ham 2-1 Chelsea

The Hammers advanced to the last eight of the Cup competition with a famous win over their west London rivals.

Cheikhou Kouyate put the hosts in front after beating John Terry in an aerial battle with a thunderous header.

Slaven Bilic’s side increased their lead few minutes into the second half when Edimilson Fernandes found the back of the net from 25-yards out. It happened when Mark Noble  found the Switzerland international on the right flank, which allowed the midfielder to cut inside and unleash a rasping drive.

Gary Cahill then ensured Chelsea did not leave the Olympic stadium without a goal as he scored a late goal for Antonio Conte’s side.

Southampton 1-0 Sunderland

Sofiane Boufal’s goal was the difference between these two. And he was making his first start for the club since joining from Lille for a club-record £15 million fee.

The defeat leaves Sunderland manager David Moyes under increasing pressure ahead of his side’s home clash against Arsenal this weekend.
