Edwin Clark Endorses Obi For President

Edwin Clark, a South-South Leader, has backed Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

His announcement comes days before former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s six-page letter endorsing Obi, a former governor of Anambra State.

On Tuesday, Clark said during a news conference at his Asokoro residence in Abuja that Nigeria will unify under Obi’s presidency and that Obi will work to reorganize the nation.

The senior politician stated that the country’s next leader must have education and experience, and that the South East should be given the opportunity to present such person since it had the resources and educated population necessary to lead the nation.

He continued by saying that Obi’s dedication to reorganizing and decentralizing authority will foster unity and peaceful cohabitation among the nation’s states and its component elements.

“That his (Obi) vision for more equity and justice as it pertains to the South-South region, which in the past sixty years has produced much of the revenue for the national economy, but has been neglected with little impact in terms of infrastructure and social development, is convincing and commendable,” Clark said.

He said Peter Obi’s promise to ensure environmental justice in cleaning up the Niger Delta polluted communities is most welcomed.
