President Muhammadu Buhari has said Ebonyi State made the right choice by joining the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
This was contained in a post on his official Facebook page days after he paid a visit to Ebonyi and was received by Governor David Umahi.
During the visit, Buhari inaugurated some projects including the King David University of Medical Sciences and others.
He wrote, “Last week I paid a two-day visit to Ebonyi State, where I commissioned various projects.
At the King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu, I commissioned a twin flyover (the King David’s University flyover), the University Building, the University Medical Hospital, with its impressive facilities and equipment, and a 12-kilometre dualised Federal Road, from Mbu in Enugu State to Uburu.
“I also inaugurated the University’s Cancer Centre, built and equipped by the Federal Government, under TETFUND.
In Onueke, where a brand new International Airport is being constructed by the State Government, I inaugurated the Airport Presidential Lodge, and a 5km dualised Airport road.
“In Abakaliki, it was my pleasure to commission the reconstructed St Margaret Umahi International Market complex, and a 750-metre length twin-flyover near the market.
“I also inaugurated the new Office Complex of the Wife of the Governor, the Akanu Ibiam Lodge (New Governor’s Lodge), Ebonyi House (Governor’s Office), the Light Tunnel Flyover and the Ebonyi Shopping Mall.
“I thanked Governor Umahi for keeping faith with our administration’s development programmes and the manifestoes of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“When I last visited Ebonyi State I witnessed the commencement of mind-blowing projects. I saw in Governor Umahi a strong desire to change the narrative of the State and meet the aspirations of the founding fathers. I was enthused by his vision to create the needed environment and raise the economic status of the State.
“I remember with pleasure, the hospitality that I received, how I was given a Chieftaincy title as ‘Enyioha 1 of Ebonyi State’ and ‘Ochioha 1 of South East’ by the Traditional Rulers of Ebonyi State and South-East respectively.
At the time I commissioned two twin-flyovers, 14 km Abakaliki – Afikpo Road, performed the foundation Laying Ceremony of the Shopping Mall as well as the 4-way Light Tunnel named after me.
“At that time, the administration was in the opposition party, and yet I was accorded a spectacular reception. Now on this visit I was privileged to commission these projects whose foundations I laid about five years ago.
“I am indeed very honoured that in the life of my administration, Ebonyi State government and her people made the right choice to join our progressive Party, the APC. I commend the Governor for the courage to join the party at the centre and for all his contributions in moving our nation forward.
“I am impressed with his performance and I know the projects will last. I congratulate the Governor on these feats and I am very pleased to be associated with them.”
