93 Days: Ebola Movie Gets World Attention, Ratings

”93 Days,” a Nigeria movie which was directed and co-produced by Steve Gukas and features stars like Bimbo Akintola, Danny Glover and Bimbo Manuel, has been gaining acceptance at virtually every prestigious international festival since its release in 2016.
The movie, which centres on the sacrifices made by people who risked their lives to contain the spread of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria, has premiered in both African and international festival circuits, with loads of positive reviews from the audience.
Some of such festivals include, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Chicago International Film Festival, Los Angeles Pan African Film Festival and Johannesburg Rapid Lion Film Festival.
According to the Executive Producer, Bolanle Austen-Peters, the movie has just been selected to show at the prestigious American Film Institute (AFI).
The movie has also got 13 nomination at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards; making it the movie with the highest nomination at the AMVCA March 2017 award.
The producers are counting on the goodwill they got from most Nigerians at the cinemas to work in their favour in the awards especially the categories that require the votes of the audience.
Meanwhile, the movie has got lots of endorsement from a lot of respected personalities One of such is the Hollywood actor, Danny Glover, who also starred in the movie.
Glover said, “93 Days symbolises the spirit of the Nigerian people and the vibrancy of the industry.”
Beyond the accolades from both the media and the cinema audience who have seen the movie, the image of Nigeria as a slow respondent to epidemic disease outbreak has been re-branded by this movie.
