Driver Dies in Accident After Falling Asleep on Wheels
In the early hours of the morning at approximately 4:53 am, a tragic road traffic accident occurred along Umar Musa Yaradua way, adjacent to ACO estate in Lugbe, Abuja. The incident involved a Hiace bus and a Nissan HOWO Truck.
Prompt response teams, including operatives from the Bill Clinton National Emergency Management Agency Ambulance Bay, alongside personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Police, swiftly arrived at the scene to render assistance to the victims.
According to initial reports, the bus driver succumbed to fatigue and fell asleep while behind the wheel, resulting in a loss of control that led to a collision with the truck. Tragically, the collision claimed the life of the bus driver, resulting in his instant demise. Four other occupants of the bus managed to survive the ordeal.
The deceased driver’s body has been transferred to the Lugbe Division Police Station, while the survivors have been transported to the hospital for necessary medical attention and care.
