Don’t Let South-South Governors Hijack Niger-Delta Tour, Militants Tell Osinbajo

The Niger-Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC) has called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo not to allow his fact-finding mission to the Niger-Delta be taken over by South-South Governors for their political interest.
In a statement made available on Wednesday by the spokesperson, W.O.I Izon-Ebi, the militant group bemoaned the silence of the Federal Government, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), and stakeholders to the plight of the people of Oloibiri in Bayelsa State.
NDRC said some governors in the South-South region have different agenda.
”Today, we are talking about the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) report for the cleaning of Ogoni land. The government agreed to implement it because all the oil wells were shut down since the death of Ken Saro-Wiwa.
”There is still much oil in the land, so Shell and the Nigerian government still want to explore the oil.
”In the case of Oloibiri, it is total inhuman act to mankind,” the group stated.
The group advised Acting President Osinbajo to put in confidence distinguished personalities of the region, including the chairman of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), King Alfred Diete-Spiff, the chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, to make sure set goals are realised.
