Dismissed Officers: Reconsider Your Actions, PDP Tells Police

By Ogbolu George with agency report
The Nigerian police have been advised to reconsider the fateĀ of the six police officers dismissed over alleged unprofessional conduct during legislative rerun elections in Rivers.
The advice is coming from the National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmed Makarfi.
Makarfi believes the decision to sack the officers was biased and should be reconsidered for the sake of justice, as he said it was ”politically motivated”.
The Nigeria Police Force had dismissed the six officers, early this year, for alleged violations of clear instructions handed down to them during the December 10, 2016, legislative re-run elections in Rivers.
The six officers were said to have breached the force’s rules to be of good conduct and desist from escorting politically exposed persons to the polling units throughout the period of election.
