Deborah Samuel’s Suspected Killers Still In Custody – Police

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has refuted claims regarding the release of the individuals believed to be responsible for the tragic death of Deborah Samuel, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education.
It can be recalled that Deborah, a second-year student studying Home Economics, was horrifically set on fire on May 12, 2022, allegedly by Islamic extremists who accused her of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed. Her untimely demise came about when she offered advice to her classmates, urging them to refrain from sharing religious content on their academic WhatsApp group.
Shortly after this devastating incident, which caused considerable unrest throughout the nation, the Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the apprehension of several suspects in connection with Deborah’s murder.
Now, a year following the tragic event, concerned individuals on social media platforms have begun demanding information regarding the current whereabouts of the suspects from the Nigeria Police Force.
In response to these inquiries, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi took to his official Twitter account to clarify the situation, stating unequivocally that the apprehended suspects are presently being held in a correctional facility.
Adejobi tweeted, “They are in custody, Correctional Centre, under prosecution. PPRO Sokoto will address you. PRO Sokoto should come up with an update immediately. But I think some of you here should learn how to read news about incidences.”
