Death Toll From Uyo Church Collapse Now Over 200


Latest information reaching Concise News has it that the death toll from the Saturday church building collapse in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has risen to over 200.
The Chief Medical Director of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Prof. Etete Peters, made this known on Sunday in Uyo while addressing pressmen.
“Many victims are in private hospitals and mortuaries scattered all over Uyo metropolis; we can’t really tell how many people have died so far.
“We have over 200 persons in the mortuaries. We do not have space as people are still being brought in,” Prof Peters told newsmen in Uyo.
The state governor Emmanuel Udom who escaped death by whiskers when the church collapsed has set up a panel of enquiry to look at the immediate and remote causes of the collapse.
