Africa’s wealthiest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has revealed that his refinery will start producing by first quarter of 2019; that is less than two years from now.
Dangote group made the remark when Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo inspected the refinery in company of Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
In this video by Ovation, the President of Dangote Group can be heard telling dignitaries on site that 65 million cubic meters of tanks are being installed on the refinery site. He also claims that three dredgers, with two being the biggest dredgers in the world, are on site to make sure the project meets up with deadline.
Dangote told dignitaries present that his refinery is going to be the biggest in the world. “You wont appreciate the size of the place, maybe because you have not gone round,” Dangote said.
“But this place is actually eight time Victoria Island, that is to give you the concept. The entire Victoria Island, you get eight times of it here, so that is how big it is.”
When completed, the Lekki-based refinery will be the biggest in the world with a refining capacity of 600,000 barrels per day. This could mean one thing for Nigeria; that Nigeria can quickly become a big player in petroleum export two years from now.
