In total disregard for the stance of the family of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, the coroner panel began sitting and demanding sworn affidavits from the public.
The coroner, Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, also summoned the Adeleke family, the chief medical director of Biket Hospital, Osogbo, as well as the chief medical director of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (Lautech) Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
Also invited to appear before the panel is the executive secretary of Ede South local government and the state commissioner of police.
During its sitting, the Adeleke family was conspicuously absent and no representative was sent to appear before the panel.
The family had rejected the decision of the state government to set up the panel saying it has a political undertone. The family’s spokesperson, Deji Adeleke said the coroner panel was set up to achieve a particular aim and interest.
The family, however, warned the management of the Lautech Teaching Hospital against revealing the outcome of the autopsy to Governor Aregbesola stating that any attempt to do that would attract family anger and sanction.
At the sitting siwhich took placetuated in the state high court, the Coroner promised to re-invite the Adeleke family.
The coroner stated that anyone who is interested in presenting evidence before it should at first swear an affidavit on such a claim.
The coroner adjourned the sitting to Monday, May 15, 2017, when evidences will be taken.
