CAF Mourns Mauritanian Goalkeeper, Mohamed El Mokhtar

The Confederation Africain de Football (CAF) is in mourning following the tragic demise of 21-year-old Mauritanian national team goalkeeper, Mohamed El Mokhtar. The young talent met an untimely end due to a fatal collision during a training session, resulting in severe head trauma.

In a somber statement released late Sunday on the CAF website, the association expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the promising goalkeeper. CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, extended heartfelt condolences to El Mokhtar’s family, club, and the Mauritanian Football Federation, as prayers for eternal rest were offered for the departed soul.

Reports indicate that El Mokhtar slipped during training with his club, AS Douanes, leading to a devastating injury that plunged him into a week-long coma. Despite medical efforts, the young goalkeeper succumbed to his injuries.
