The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says it has given its president, Amaju Pinnick, the mandate to vote for a candidate of his choice in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) presidential election.

Madagascar’s Football Association boss Ahmad Ahmad is challenging incumbent president Issa Hayatou for the continent’s football’s top position on 16 March in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Media and Publicity Committee Chairman of the NFF, Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, said on Thursday that Pinnick had the Federation’s mandate to cast his vote for a candidate, who will best serve Nigeria’s interest.
