Buhari To Inaugurate Air Force Hospital In Bauchi

President Muhammadu Buhari would be in Bauchi on Tuesday, for the inauguration of a 60-bed capacity Reference Hospital constructed by the Special Operation Command of the Nigerian Air Force.
Air Marshall Christopher Okeye, Officer in charge of the command, stated this while addressing newsmen on Friday in Bauchi, the state capital.
To handle severe cases
He said the hospital, which would engage the services of 50 medical experts in various fields, had been equipped to handle severe cases of life-threatening ailments.
“The establishment of the Special Operation was aimed at boosting combat support operations and to provide special operations capabilities, particularly in the conflicts areas of North-East
“The referral hospital is for prompt treatment of life-threatening operational injuries, as well as to serve as a Referral hospital for NAF units,” he said.
More units to follow
Okoye said when fully operational, the command would have units in Gusau, Daura, Katsina, Oweri, Yola, Jos and Ipetu Ijesha in Osun State.
He also said as part of activities preceding the inauguration of the hospital, the command has started conducting medical outreach activities in nearby communities.
“We have been conducting medical outreach activities, today, and will do same tomorrow as part of activities preceding the inauguration.
In 2017, we will conduct similar exercise in Durun and Kudun villages as well as distribute eye glasses to those with eye problems,” he said.
Take advantage
Okoye advised people of the state, especially the immediate host community, to take advantage of the facility.
The hospital consists of Renal Dialysis centre, Mini and Major theater, Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric ward, General Outpatient unit, Male and Female wards.
Others are Accident and Emergency, Physiotherapy; Radiology, Dental and Eye units; as well as Computerised Tomography Scan (CT-Scan) and Cancer Screening facilities, Dental; and Eye units.
