Boko Haram: Council Boss Of Destroyed Madagali LG Calls For Help
The Chairman of Madagali Local Government Council in Adamawa State, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed, on Monday has called on the Federal Government to assist in rehabilitating infrastructure damaged in the council by Boko Haram insurgents.
Muhammed told NAN in Gulak, the council’s headquarters, that life was very difficult for returnees in the local government. Gulak is one of the towns recently liberated from Boko Haram by Nigerian forces.
Muhammed said government facilities like schools, hospital and as well as markets, among others, were no longer functioning.
“Gulak town, the headquarters of the local government, is about 15 km from Sambisa forest. Sambisa is the den of the insurgents,” said Muhammed.

“The destruction of schools, health facilities, markets, houses, as well as places of worship and also community civic centre, is beyond imagination.
“The terrorist group has also completely vandalized the council secretariat and there is no single infrastructure left.”
He added that the Islamist group also destroyed bridges along federal roads that linked the area to other parts of the state and neighbouring Borno.
The destruction, according to the council boss, has crippled economic activities in the area. It is also making life very difficult for the returnees.
Peace is gradually returning to the northeastern part of Nigeria. This is because the Buhari-led administration as been uncompromising in its fight against the Boko Haram fighters.
You will recall that a faction of the boko haram sect loyal to Shekau recently released over 21 schoolgirls abducted by them over two years ago the Nigerian government.
